The requirement of providing identification in order to register is to prove that an individual is a Namibian citizen and is at least 18 years of age. The requirement for proof of residence is so that it can be verified that a person actually resides in the specific area or constituency in order to vote in local elections.
For more information on how to register, view this ECN webpage.
And, for an illustration of the registration process, see this ECN poster on its Facebook page.
Namibians are reminded that there will be no more voter registration after 1 August 2024. So, if you miss this registration opportunity, you will not be able to vote on 27 November 2024.
